Good Food & Wine Show - June 24th 2006

10am is when the doors open, and a lot of the crowd seem to be mad keen on getting in. Many/most were piling into the hot chocolate stand for a sludgy dose of something hot and sweet. Swissway was the company behind the throng - apparently the only outlet within the compound providing such. Not a lot of serious buyers though. Most were there just for the tasting. In fact, most of the horde were there for the same reasons.

The bigger companies were there pushing their product - Sunrice, Kantong, Ayam and so on. That's not to say that the smaller companies weren't represented. Fardoulis Chocolates, for example, were there with brightly coloured boxes of sweet goodies for the eyes to savour.

The Shins - The Gaelic Club - 09/12/03

I never particularly liked The Shins, certainly not enough to bother buying an album, but, driven by boredom, I decided to check them out anyway. The supports acts were Starkey (Starky?) and Iron & Wine.

I left home too late to catch Starky (Starkey?) and I was kind of disappointed because there’s a song of theirs on the radio that I don’t entirely hate.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine's review of Preston School of Industry's 'All This Sounds Gas'

This review is not of a CD but a review of a review of a CD. The CD reviewed was All This Sounds Gas by the Preston School Of Industry. The reviewer is a chap called Stephen Thomas Erlewine. Now the first error in his review is his name, but we'll forgive that.

I began exploring the Preston School Of Industry because the guy in the band, a Mr. Spiral Stairs (real name Scott Kannberg), was in another band that I hold close to my black, black heart. That band is of course, Pavement.
