Pro-whaling nations of the world walk wounded on a set back in their commercial culinary corrals fed by the slaughtering of the massive marine mammals.
At the International Whaling Commission's 57th annual meeting in Ulsan, Republic of Korea 2005, the resolution to begin again the commercial wave riding efforts of harpoonists and grenade launchers fell at their bloody hands.
Led by Japan, with members including Norway, Iceland, Greenland and nations with hands and palms up for votes, the blow against the resumption of commercial whaling was taken as a reasonable victory by the anti-whaling conglomerate.
All open hopes on the minke and humpback slashing and sashimi brooding now rest on the continuation of the relaxed scientific research loop hole. Despite far better methods available, and with clearer and more substantive results, there is still no better source of whale meat outside the glorious methods provided through whaling.
With the scientific research vote to come, talks of manufacturing whale meat are yet to be considered.
