Social disorder: Feet on train seats

Ethan Switch - Friday, August 11, 2006 - 23:42:46 - print it raw

Two wrongs can make a right in small situations. One such being the slight civil annoyance of another commuter's feet riding pride high on the train seats.

Despite the posted signs and hypocrisy of sitting in another's filth, perpetrators of this small act continue to thrive in the misery of others. Often only concerned in self removal in busy or peak times.

Sadly, due to current legal mud pies, forcefully conveying the issues and negatives concerned with sitting in such a state are verboten. Cases include dynamically potent scenarios as suddenly bending knees backward or clipping ankles from the slamming turn of the back rest. Plausibility deniable.

Knowing the majority's aversion to confrontations and speaking out, a ride with the feet up on the seats can usually last the entirety of a journey. This works in their favour. It can also be turned against them.

For those who feel powerless and fearful of repercussions, yet want to take action, there is always something more grating than knowing someone either cannot read or show respect for public seating areas.

The simple and slight constant sound of rustling plastic or paper directly behind such a display has been known to be effective in at least shifting the person into another section of the car.

Away from view and made to be the problem of another set of commuters. As, after all, society has been developed to shift blame and anger ad infinitum.

On that note...

Articles and all that more wordy stuff

Where in Kentucky - Mammoth Cave National Park
Monstrously, and seemingly neverending, sitting under the home ground of Colonel Sanders, the world's largest cave system. Yucatan comes nowhere close. Not even Cocklebiddy poses a threat. No comparison. Small holes looking up at a big fat long one. Sadly, with possible age and lack of food, no minotaurs to be found within the lime walls.
Homebrew Diary - Wheatbeer of misery
If what can turn a foul mood around becomes the harbinger of the foul mood, what happens next? Turn it into a learning experience. And when that learning curve makes a late break over the plate, you'd better start to swing away.
Homebrew Diary - Blackrock IPA + Hops
It doesn't take a big man to admit that he drinks. It takes a big man to get wasted and perform impromptu sermons naked from a balcony; raving upon the ravages of the insanity of stata bylaws and noisy offspring in adjoining arpartments...
